Welcome to our new eNovella Australia site. From here we are launching our global and offshore editions with really interesting work arriving, so do yourself a favour and check back regularly.
Contemporary adult fiction has become the bastion of that old faded ‘children should be seen and not heard‘ dogmatic, and we aim to do something about that. As you can see, we’re very big on Faërie. We enjoy new and contemporary Fantasy, NeoPagan, Supernatural, Celtic, Heroic, Medieval, Gothic, Erotic and new Coming-of-Age themes, especially in fringe, auteur, maverick, indie style.
We are fey, and seriously literary. What we do love most is the very intense, compact, 25-35,000 word novella format – the really good stuff that corporate publishers refuse to handle because, as they say, it “doesn’t sell”.
J.R.R. Tolkien once wrote, “Now, though I have only touched (thoroughly inadequately) on elves and fairies, I must turn back; for I have digressed from my proper theme: fairy stories. I said the sense ‘stories about fairies’ was too narrow. It is too narrow, even if we reject the diminuitive size, for fairy stories are not in normal English usage stories about fairies or elves, but stories about Fairie, that is Faërie, the realm or state in which fairies have their being. Faërie contains many things besides elves and fays, and besides dwarfs, witches, trolls, giants or dragons: it holds the seas, the sun, the moon, the sky; and the earth, and all things that are in it: tree and bird, water and stone, wine and bread, and ourselves, mortal men, when we are enchanted.”
